Force Sensors for Manual Therapists

Technology

The LiteTouch system is comprised of four main components all working in concert to provide highly accurate, precise, and reliable force measurement for clinicians. The disposable force sensor is connected to the wrist cuff through a magnetic optical coupling connector. The wrist cuff communicates the force signal via secure Bluetooth to the display computer which displays it graphically and records it for later review. Each disposable sensor is custom calibrated for the clinician's hand by pressing on the force gage mounted on the calibration unit.

Sensor
  • The patented sensor is less than 1 mm thick and is approximately 1 cm in diameter.
  • It is fabricated from soft materials that feel comfortable on your fingertip or palm and won't distract you from your normal practice.
  • Measures forces accurately between 0.01 lbs and 30 lbs.
  • Because of the sensor's novel optical technology, it is immune to electromagnetic interference from your body or external noise sources.
  • Its non-linear force vs. voltage profile provides very high sensitivity at low forces.
  • This sensor is made from inexpensive materials which enable it to be disposed of after every use.

Wrist Cuff
  • A unique magnetic connector optically couples the sensor with the wrist cuff ensuring a consistent and reliable connection that is easy to plug in and unplug.
  • The cuff is strapped to your wrist like a standard watch.
  • It houses an advanced Bluetooth module which is paired with the display computer through a safe and secure protocol.
  • The force applied with the sensor is displayed in real time on the face of the cuff.
  • State of the art polymer lithium ion battery life exceeds 3 hours of measurement and does not continue to draw power when a sensor is not connected.
  • The wrist cuff is charged through the magnetic connector on the calibration unit.
  • Capacitive touch sensors on the face allow full control of the software from the wrist cuff.
  • An internal vibrator motor can alert you when a threshold force has been reached.

Calibration Module
  • This USB-powered module sits on your countertop with the footprint of a deck of cards.
  • It contains a precision force gage used to custom calibrate each force sensor before use.

Display Computer
  • This all-in-one touch screen computer can stand on the countertop or be mounted to a wall or stand.
  • The wrist cuff's Bluetooth radio pairs with the display computer and transmits the force signal to the it.
  • The monitor graphically displays the force profile in real-time and can be paused, reversed, and replayed at any time.
  • The force profile for each measurement is automatically recorded and pre-programmed algorithms calculate summary statistics.
  • Reports are automatically generated for each session and for each patient over time.
